Other Computing Labs: Office of Information Technology (OIT) has an open access lab on the "Garden Level" of the SBSG building.  This is the closest open access lab to our School.  For more information, please check out UCI Open Access Labs.

Reporting Problems for Social Ecology Labs

If you encounter problems with printing, printers need more paper, or would like to report broken equipment, please email us or call 824-8202 for service; or visit us at Social Ecology I Room 116.

Print Credits

Lab PrinterRules

Graduate students are provided with a limited amount of free printing in the Social Ecology labs, which may be used for academic requirements ONLY.  This includes printing final copies of paper assignments, research reports, MA theses, and Ph.D. dissertations. Printing resources should not be used for personal use nor TA work. Printing hard copies of research materials, iterative drafts, and statistical analytic output should be done sparingly. Print credits in the computer labs should also not be used to print course reading materials that are viewable on the web.

Each student is given $50 worth of printing credits per quarter.  This means you may print 500 pages (black and white). There is an icon labeled "print balance" on the desktop of each lab machine that allows you to check your current print balance. At the start of each quarter all accounts are reset to $50.  Credits do not rollover from prior quarters.

Please do not make multiple copies of documents on the printers in the lab. Usage of these printers is tracked and monitored.  Sorry, we do not allow the purchase of more credits, please use wisely.

Any printing problems in any of our Social Ecology labs should be reported to us at for the fastest possible service.  Any lost credits due to printer hardware problems will be re-credited.  Please report those incidences ASAP to Social Ecology’s Computing Services at this same email.

Accounts: Individuals

Social Ecology Gradudate students and Social Ecology students with lab sections are given access to Social Ecology computer labs. Accounts for classes are only active through the duration of the class/quarter.

Data storage: Each account is allocated a limited amount of data storage on the network M: drive - which can be seen by opening "My Computer". This drive follows you as you log in on different machines in the three labs. However, always bring a USB flash drive or use webfiles to save, back up, and transport all data. Any files stored on the "C" dirve will be lost! Store data on the network drive at your own risk.
