Print Credit Policy Change

Lab PrinterAs many of you are aware, the California budget has had a major negative impact on our daily operations.  Unfortunately, we are forced to do our part; we are cutting back on printing in our computer labs.

Starting immediately and until further notice, we will be reducing free printing in the labs to 500 pages per quarter (this is half of what the prior allocation was).
This will apply to all Social Ecology graduate students, Social Ecology Honors students, and Social Ecology Mentor/Mentee students.

Any questions about cost per page or what can be printed see our policy:

Print Credits

Lab PrinterRules

Graduate students are provided with a limited amount of free printing in the Social Ecology labs, which may be used for academic requirements ONLY.  This includes printing final copies of paper assignments, research reports, MA theses, and Ph.D. dissertations. Printing resources should not be used for personal use nor TA work. Printing hard copies of research materials, iterative drafts, and statistical analytic output should be done sparingly. Print credits in the computer labs should also not be used to print course reading materials that are viewable on the web.

Amounts

Each student is given $50 worth of printing credits per quarter. Printing on the black printer is $0.10 per page; Printing on the color printer is $1.00 per page. This means you may print 500 pages of black and white, or 50 pages of color, or some combination of both. There is an icon labeled "print balance" on the desktop of each lab machine that allows you to check your current print balance. At the start of each quarter all accounts are reset to $50.

Please do not make multiple copies of documents on the printers and use the color printer sparingly. Usage of these printers is tracked and monitored.  Sorry, we do not allow the purchase of more credits, please use wisely.

Problems

Any printing problems in any of our Social Ecology labs should be reported to us at support@soceco.uci.edu for the fastest possible
service.  Any lost credits due to printer hardware problems will be re-credited.  Please report those incidences ASAP to Social Ecology’s Computing Services at this same email.
