SocIT@uci.edu serves as the main point of contact for the Social Ecology computer labs. Reach out for questions about lab rooms and equipment, to report any issues or malfunctions, or to request room reservations.
There are two computer labs available in the School of Social Ecology specifically for use of the SE Graduate student population:
- Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBSG) 4200, 32 computers available with 1 Teacher Station in a lectern and 1 WEPA Printing Station (View lab schedule)(opens in a new tab)
- Social Ecology 1 306, 16 computers available and our 1 WEPA Printing Station is located in the Social Ecology 1 lobby on the first floor. (View lab schedule)(opens in a new tab)
Social and Behavioral Sciences 4200 is our only instructional lab. When classes are in session, please use SE 1- 306 or the OIT labs as an alternative. You may find information about when the labs are occupied by checking the online lab schedule.
Software in our labs include: Windows 11, Adobe Acrobat (reader), Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), Firefox, Microsoft Edge, ArcGIS Pro, SPSS (only in 4200), SAS (only in 4200), Stata (limit 25 users at a time), and MPlus (5 users at a time on any lab computer).
Installation of software on any Social Ecology lab PC is prohibited. These machines have been set up to meet the needs of all classes and graduate students. Please check the Open Access OIT lab schedule for software available(opens in a new tab) in their labs.
Other Computing Labs: Office of Information Technology (OIT) has an open access lab in the Social Science tower. This is the closest lab to our School. For more information, please check out UCI Open Access Labs(opens in a new tab).

PLEASE NOTE: Food and drinks are not allowed in the computer labs - no exceptions. This policy protects the equipment from damage and provides for a cleaner shared environment.
