MultiFactor Authentication (MFA) is a two-step process that requires both a password and a second verification using a smartphone or a small token device that you carry with you. The University of California is adopting an MFA product called “Duo” and most UC campuses now require it to access institutional resources or soon will.
The campus is expected to transition to DUO MFA by October 15, 2019.
For assitance setting up DUO MFA please visit: https://www.oit.uci.edu/mfa/

With the increasing use of tablets within the School, this policy outlines what is supported by computing services.
In order to support our users this policy may change as the market demand changes, please email us at se.computing@uci.edu with any questions you may have.
All Social Ecology (SE) faculty and staff (employees) are required to return UCI-owned computers, including desktops, laptops, and tablets, to SE Computing for decommissioning that are either (1) non-functioning or (2) at the end of their useful life. SE employees are further required, upon their resignation, retirement, or termination from the School, to return all UCI-owned computers, including desktops, laptops, and tablets, to SE Computing for either decommissioning or redeployment.
Note for Apple Users: Any Apple equipment being returned must be removed from your Apple ID account to allow SE Computing/campus to wipe the drives. Follow these links for instructions:
Within the School of Social Ecology you may need to login to various websites for the purpose of editing pages, editing your faculty profile information, editing your graduate student profile information and access restricted pages on our intranet. In order to login to any site you must have a registered and approved account. You can request a website login using the form at the Computing Services website located at http://computing.soceco.uci.edu/webforms/request-website-login and submit your information for account approval.
If you have not logged into the Social Ecology websites and believe you qualify for a website login in order to update information, please fill out the form below. The websites throughout the School of Social Ecology provide access to the following groups:
Employees that retire have the option to request their email be changed into a retired account (must be requested by the user):
https://www.oit.uci.edu/retiree/
Assume that once you leave, any files that will need to be passed onto the next person will be packaged up and saved on one of the shared drives, or a M: drive of your choice. No files left on the computer of the person retiring will be saved.
Regarding emails - UCI does not grant access to email of the person that's leaving. Any emails that need to be preserved, should be forwarded or saved as a separate attachment.
Please work with your employees to be sure that anything that needs to be preserved for the next person is backed up either by an external drive or stored on a shared drive. Any personal files they want to take with them will need to be copied or removed by the employee's last day.
Individual UCInetIDs are granted to each member of the faculty, staff, and student population at UCI. For the duration of your relationship with UCI, you will use your individual UCInetID regularly to access important online services, one example would be accessing email services.
